The linen trousers
It’s a boy’s trousers
Short
Made of linen. Between gray and beige
With buttons instead of zipper. Bone
buttons.
Simple. Without any details
It used to be a piece of my father’s
sailor’s costume, 89 years ago!
I wore it, as a child, in a Carnival.
My son, did it too, once.
Now she accompanies me, without being used
anymore. In the drawer. On the waiting of a grandchild, who knows?
Each time I
see it, comes to my mind the picture of the owner, blond, two years old,
wearing it. Posing on my grandfather Ernesto’s traditional ( and wonderful
) Monte Alegre farm.
Who bought the fabric ?
Who made it?
For which special occasion was it made?
Birhtday?... Maybe
Where did the linen came from?
Wanderings… Inquiries…
I keep it, and with it, a past will
silence… until the next time I see it…
